Students in the 7th grade are being offered some options for tutorials in Pre- Algebra and Language Arts. You will need to let us know if your child will be taking the tutorials when you register for classes.
Math Enrichment teacher Sarah Hamilton or Pre-Algebra Tutorial (8:30 start time) taught by Lori Hill
Language Arts Enrichment taught by Connie Frey or Language Arts Tutorial (1 1/2 hour class) taught by Lavonne Redferrin
Art taught by JoAnn Woodland The students will learn the basic principles of art and design incorporated through lessons by using a variety of materials and hands on projects.
Viva el Espanol 2 taught by Monica Johnson If you are new to BHSE, I would recommend you take Conversational Spanish with Ms. Claudia (its a beginner class, necessary before you can take Spanish Tutorials).
This class will continue building students knowledge of the Spanish language and culture. We will move from one topic to the next as the majority in the class masters material presented. How much we cover will depend on how fast the children learn the topics introduced. Please make sure the children come to class with a three ring binder, pencil, hi- lighter, crayons and a pack of 3X5 index cards.
Earth Science taught by Jennifer Almon Jump into an exciting adventure in space, investigate the world of the atmosphere, dig into geology, and plunge into the hydrosphere. This course is an excellent way of drawing students into God’s world through earth science. There will be 1-2 hours of homework per week. Participation in the spring Science Fair is required. Students need pencils, loose-leaf paper, a notebook for notes, and a scientific calculator.
Government teacher TBD We will learn about the basics of how our government is run including branches of government. Time will be spent discussing the election process and much more.
There is a one-time $20 science fee for all 7th grade as well as a $10 art fee. Tutorials come with an additional $15 per month cost and when you commit to a tutorial, this fee is non-refundable. Books may need to be purchased as well.
