Dear Parents,
I have assigned the Spanish I class some homework. It’s very minimal. In our teachers
meeting today Lavonne reminded us not to give homework over the holidays. I have
expressed my concerns to Lavonne about the homework and how that can affect the
classroom. She instructed me to check with you parents. I would like to explain as to why I
am giving this homework. Spanish is not more important than any other tutorial but it is a
second language and it does require that extra practice. If I do give assignments during the
holiday they will be able to progress forward in the class. If we do not do any homework over
the holiday then we will more than likely put us behind because we will have to review the
lesson again to refresh our memory. I will try my very best to give them very little homework.
I do understand that the kids do need a break. It’s hard when you only have 1 ½ hours every
week. Please let me know what you think, or if you have any ideas or suggestions. For I only
want what is best for you and your kids.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Señora Claudia

Homework; Part B on page 76 as well as Part B on page 77. Vocabulary pages 36-38.

Dear Parents,
I do not have a grade for the students of Spanish 1 as of yet.  This would be due to the fact that
several chapters are covered in each test, as well as the fact that we have had several in class
oral reviews of the translations. I will have their grades in a couple of weeks. However I do
have a progress report. Learning a second language requires a lot of extra work as well as a
lot of practice in the pronunciations of the words. Please encourage your child to practice; it is
very important that they do so. We have interviews as well as translations. If they practice at
home they will be quicker to do those exercises in the class room. I do not want them to
memorize but to make sure that they know the translations of the words. It’s very important that
they do turn in their homework. As well as take the time to review it after it’s corrected. That
helps them for their next homework of test.

Thank you so much for allowing me to teach your child. If you have any questions please feel
free to contact me.
